that was fast!I got my laptop back! Woo hoo! They repaired my broken latch, replaced my hard drive, and even carefully replaced all the little rubber gizmos and doohickeys that I'd so carefully removed the first time around. So I had to pick them all off again. With no CD drive, you're going to be using that network connection all the time, y'know? I didn't think I'd like the "legacy-free" style laptop, but it's turned out to be a pretty workable solution. It's light, and the batteries last through an entire class. They reinstalled the O/S; it seems to be slightly updated from the last edition. At least some of the drivers, especially the video. I've had to apply all the patches (again) and start the tedious business of reinstalling all the applications. Maybe this time I'll install the Palm phone so that it synchronizes with the laptop... that might work better. |
